As a child of the almost year-round warmth of sunny Florida, I was one of those girls with a huge drawer of Roxy and Hurley bathing suits. Matching my top and bottom? Secondary in the equation of sun and sand. That’s probably what drew me toward the delightfully mixed up prints of Maaji bathing suits. The kaleidoscopic range of colors and prints marries parrots with florals with butterflies. The brand uses every kind of top (bustier, string, halter, underwire, one-shoulder, strapless) and cheeky bottoms to display the tropical style. And the sexy closures on the back of the tops might be the coolest I’ve ever seen. As if the riot of color couldn’t get any better, Maaji has made almost all their styles reversible, basically giving you two suits for one. For the more traditional beach goddess, there are some options in solid peaches and blues, though I say skip over those offerings and dive headfirst into a sea of colorful prints. Much to my surprise and pleasure, I discovered that as part of its eco-friendly campaign, “Planting an Ocean of Trees,” Maaji has planted more than 70,000 trees and has big plans to expand this effort. Peace of mind is included, but the salty water and seashells are up to you to discover.
